One small step for man, one giant lunge for Matthewkind

Yes, a miracle occurred today. Matthew came to his very first Body Pump class!! There did seem to be an awful lot of “Oh god”s coming from his area of the room, however I think he at least didn’t loathe every minute of it, so that’s a good start! Rachael was teaching who is an awesome instructor, and especially great for newbies, because she always explains the moves really well and she was definitely “on” today - perfect choreography, fab technique directions and lots of entertainment thrown in for an enjoyable class. I was very impressed with Matthew too, he had great technique especially for a newbie and really caught on to the moves quickly. Rachael taught Body Pump 56, so those who know it will know that the squats, triceps and shoulder tracks are really challenging so he certainly didn’t get an easy ride!!

Last night we went to Kabuki and to see Stick It, a new movie about gymnastics. Tonight we’re going to LA to hang with Michael Jung, Jon Regul, Mike Montez etc - that group. Dinner and some drinking :-)
Next week at work will probably suck - well, it might not suck, but I sure will be a busy bee, as it’s End of Month reporting time. So if I don’t reply to emails, don’t take it personally, I just have to concentrate on the people who pay me. (So of course if you send a cheque I might be more likely to reply. Lol!!)

If Matt (non-michele matt) comes back to say Hi i’m sure he can fill you in, he did it and lost a fair whack of weight. Just a warning though, if you’re planning on doing it, stock up on gum and breathmints…

    One word Kathryn: NO.

If you want to eat a really unbalanced diet, see your cholesterol levels shoot through the roof and gain it all back as soon as you start eating normally again, go for it - otherwise, there are much better, healthier ways to go. Ask your doctor - I’m sure they will chain you to the chair until you agree to not do the Atkins diet.

Kathryn, I tried BA on Friday night. That class isn’t for the faint hearted! I think I’ve now tried all the Les Mills classes…

As for Atkins, well the jury is out. I wouldn’t do it personally but I know there is now some research to suggest the low fat diet isn’t good for you either! As Michele says, talk to your doctor…

i did wonder whether a diet which included bacon & eggs for brekky would be good for you…

hey i think if you eat well & healthy, cut out junk, eat balanced meals, then hey, you can’t go wrong. i mean ultimately the goal is to be healthy right??! I think if you exercise and maintain a good diet you will see results…

and btw didnt atkins himself die of a heart attack??!

I think he actually slipped over and hit his head…

Yeah I wonder how a diet can tell you to eat bacon but shun certain fruits and vegetables! Um, yeah …

Thought it’s about time I weigh in on the atkins debate that your all having. I can only go on my on experience, it worked for me I lost 70lb in about 5 months and kept it off for 3 years and until the last few months Oz did not put any weight on. It was a suitable diet for me as I have never been much of a fruit and veg person anyway, But I was eating fairly heathly whilst on it
. Yes I was having Bacon & Eggs for brekkie (which was great by the way) but the rest of the day I was eating chicken and other meats. The Atkins book has alot of good receipes in them. I was also at the gym for 90 mins each morning as well. The first two weeks are the hardest as you are only allowed 20 grams of carbs per day. The thing that it got me doing was drinking lots of water which i didn’t do before. Also because you can only have the 20g of carbs I stopped nibbling on chocolate and the like. AS the weeks progress you increase the amount of carbs until you find a level where you are not gaining or losing weight.
In the end the only thing I can say is it worked for me.
