Quarterly workshops ROCK!

So Nat and I had the GREATEST weekend!!! We went down to San Diego for the Les Mills quarterly workshop, which is basically like a big one-day convention type of thing for instructors, where they teach us the quarter’s new releases for every program. We took part in:

BodyCombat master class, and listened to the education session
BodyAttack master class
RPM education, and RPM master class
BodyPump education and BodyPump master class
BodyStep master class
BodyFlow master class

Basically that was from 8am through to 6pm. It was absolutely awesome.

The verdict … BodyCombat was so much fun - surprisingly so! And I didn’t fall down once! BodyAttack was okay but a little too (as Natty puts it) “Jane Fonda on ecstasy” for me. But the trainers were hilarious presenting it!

RPM was absolutely amazing and very ass-kicking (in the great way.) BodyPump was freakin’ awesome - just so much energy in the room, a lot of fun. And BodyFlow was very muchly needed at the end of the day! Oh and Step - not really my thing, I nearly stacked it and fell flat on my face or twisted my ankle a few times! I’m just not terribly co-ordinated!!

Unfortunately, the floor wasn’t really the best they could have used for a lot of high-impact classes and Nat and I are really limping around - part from effort and part from the crap floor - on account of some damn sore calves!! But it was worth it, such a great day! That night we then had dinner and drinks with Rachael and Keenan (other instructors at Golds) and had an absolute blast just gossiping and chatting.

Anyway now I can’t walk, but it was the greatest weekend … bring on the next quarter!!

I think the phrase “you’re insane” has lost all meaning to you (the collective you) given the number of times it has been mooted here…

  3.

are you part of the cellective “us”?

  4.

Is cellective like a collective of celery?

  5.

Well, i think i might now be part of the celelerytive us… For some reason going out and drinking until 2am last night seemed a really good idea until I woke up this morning. :-S

  6.

To use your own words…You’re insane!

  7.

OH MY GOD! Sometimes I swear I am way too nice to people! SO new kid ont he books that I assessed like a month ago and very strongly recommended CLINIC services (ie, not me). No clinic openings at the moment so big dilemma in that we can’t recommend OT and not have a service provided. Anyway, met with the psychs very firm in my position that I’d be happy to cover the short fall until clinic was found but I could not do weekly therapy….

The outcome? 30 minutes once per week.

Somehow it sounded like a great idea the way they put it.

Wow. You gotta learn that “NO” word. Listen to me. It’s the word that comes out of my mouth after you and Matthew tells me to put away my shoes!

  9.

Yes Natalie, you need to just say No (except to me of course. :-p), just imagine someone’s offering you drugs or something… stop being nice to everyone, it makes it less special for those people who deserve to be treated nicely.

  10.

Easier said then done. This may be a job for me but for the kids who can’t get services it’s a lot more.

Oh and by the way, when have I ever said no to you? Apart from the tequila thing….

  11.

Once is one time too many. ;-)

  12.

But I was right that time.

  13.

Noooo…. tequila is your friend. Ah well, off for another day of doing crap work with no internet access.

  14.

No internet access? However will you cope?

Got an email this morning - to say “thankyou” the district are putting on an icecream party for those of us who are working summer!

  15.

    Ice kweem!

  16.

There’s always room for ice cream! Especially when the district is paying for it.

  17.

How does one have an ice cream party? And YAY! No work for me for 9 days… :-D

  18.

well you gather a bunch of people in a room and feed them icecream….duh!!

    enjoy the time off!

  19.

but what about the ice cream headaches that then ensue?! and i would enjoy the time off if i had something worth doing for it… as it is though, i shall be mostly sitting on my butt.

  20.

    Also a valid lifestyle choice!

  21.

Yeah, but that’s how your butt gets all flabby… and i don’t want that!

  22.

Mark I work with screaming toddlers - icecream will be a break from the daily headache that is my job!

Wasn’t there a wedding in France that you were taking time off for??

  23.

Aye, indeed there is Natalie, it be on the 20th of July. This is just a sanity week more than anything, post exams and all! I just wish i had money, that way i could do something slightly more productive with my holidays, like fly places to see friends!

  24.

IN THE JUNGLE, THE MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTY JUNGLE, THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT!

  25.

Ohh I am good - look I posted without actually typing anything!!

Back to the topic…money as a limiting factor is a moot point. There’s always a way around it.
